Dear DR,
As an australian i have been diagnossed with accute anxiety disorder. Is this the same as what is listed here as general anxiety disorder.
I have had this since nov last year and was told by my doctor that i would be better by now, but i am not and feel very disapointed. is this a realistic time fram to expect to be better.

We do not use the term acute anxiety disorder, we use the term adjustment disorder with anxiety. Generalized Anxiety Disorder tends to be chronic. In fact, I think if anxiety is acute it should go away in less than six months. So, in my view (after 5 months, you are right to begin to wonder about the idea that it will just fade on its own accord.
