Anxiety and Worry

Post a new topicby Guest on Tue Jul 24, 2001 5:37 pm

Hello, I have always been a worrisome person, but recently I have realised that I might be worrying too much. I am 23, and my parents divorced when I was 17. I also have some difficulties in my long term relationship with my girlfriend. I feel there are no reasons for me to worry constantly, but I still worry all the time, sometimes for no apparent reason. I have trouble sleeping, and concentrating. I am not sure how to overcome this and what I should do. Any help or comments would be very welcome.

It is always hard to know where normal worry ends and a Generalized Anxiety Disorder begins. The criteria are based not only on symptoms but on functional impairment. Or to put it in English, how much or little is it effecting your life. I would read the section on Generalized Anxiety Disorder. There is no substitute with making an appointment with a qualified LICSW, Psychologist, Clinical Nurse Specialist or Psychiatrist and discussing the situation.
