Dealing with my husband

Post a new topicby Guest on Wed Aug 07, 2002 9:18 pm

How do I deal with my husband who seems to get mad at me about the fact that I have GAD? I asked him if he wanted to learn more about this disorder and he refused. He said that he has lived with this disorder (meaning me) ever since we got married and he knows all he needs to know. He makes me more stress the way he treats me. How do I make him understand that I am doing all I can do to get better. I am taking my meds. and seeing a shrink and he makes me feel like, like its all my falt that I am this way. I don't think a husband should treat a wife with GAD this way.

How should a husband treat a wife who has GAD/Panic disoreders problems?

I believe that all individuals should deal with one another with respect. Trust should be given where deserved. He should trust that you are doing the best that you can and try to be understanding. You also need to be aware that living with someone who has a chronic condition can be stressful for both parties involved. You might take him to one of your therapy appointments but only if he is interested. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink. Good luck.
