Effects of dose increase

Post a new topicby Guest on Sat May 25, 2002 9:40 am

Dr.,

Last night I started my new dose of Celexa (30mg from 20mg) since although 20mg did appear to make a significant difference during the 7 weeks I was on that dose for my anxiety and Panic, I was not completely satisfied (I felt like I was about maybe 60-70% better, but I want to strive for as close to 100% as possible), I was still having 1 - 2 days a week which were pretty uncomfortable for a significant part of the day but no full panic attacks.

Anyway, this morning I don't feel so great. The anxiety is pretty high. I heard this might happen when I first starting moving up in the beginning(and it did, but I thought that since 20mg was helping, it would prevent that particular side effect from occuring at future doses. Was that an unrealistic expectation? Could it be that the increase in dose is causing some (hopefully temporary) increase in anxiety or should that have stopped happening when I reached 20 (which was the first dosage that showed improvement)? Thanks as always.

Once again, it is par for the course to have some temporary increase of symptoms after increasing the medication. This should quickly resolve (give it a week or so). That is assuming it will resolve. If it doesn't I would call your doctor and step it back down to 20.
