My PCP sent me to a psychologist to have him prescribe a med my anxiety attacks. I put on effexorxr, I took several months. I started haveing or health problems (respritory,dramatic weight gain,headaches,fatigue etc.) DR.s wouldnt let me get off effexor so I weaned my self down n went off totally. drawal horrible first time in ages I felt much better. My breathing problems stopped my weight started going down, my anxiety becomming almost daily. I called Psychologist back he put me on risperdal. I have taken it about 1 month I have constant headaches, my anxiety is worse I have facial twitches. When I called DR back told him of problems I haveing drug, his response we WILL meet in my office at 2 on Thursday to get strightened out once all. He made it seem it my fault I haveing se side affects he is fed up it. Where do I go or do I do now. constant anxiety attacks almost more than I can deal , now I have to deal Psycologist.I live in a very small town so my choices very limited. I really feel desperate right now. I have depression under control has been about a year now. Can suggest a antianxiety medication doesnt have a myraid of side affects might work me.any help at all will be greatly appreciated

You could ask your MD about Benzodiazepines. While addictive, they are effective and have fewer of the type of side effects that you mentioned. There are also other SSRI's like citalopram, fluoxetine or sertraline which might not cause you so many problems. I would refer you to our info on anxiety disorders for more details.
