New Doc New Meds

Post a new topicby whippet on Thu Mar 19, 2009 7:12 pm

I have been seeing a psychaitrist and treated for GAD and Insomnia for 3 years now. I had been taking Clonopin .5mg twice a day and Rozerem 8mg for sleep. I recently had to change doctors due to my insurance. I met the new doctor this week. He explained that the Clonopin only treats the symptoms of GAD and not the cause. So....he prescribed Effexor XR 75mg once a day for a week and then twice a day. He also prescribed Clonopin as needed and Ambien for sleep. Today was the first day I took the Effexor and I feel like CRAP! I am extremely nauseated, very tired and shaky. I've read that these side effects are normal, but does anyone know how long they will last? If I feel this bad on 75mg, I am terrified to bump the dose up to 150mg in a week!
