Opposite of AgoraphobiaIs there a name for a disorder where a person does not like to be at home?
I have GAD with panic attacks and take Xanax for it. I have read a lot about the disorder and I notice that one of my symptoms is exactly the opposite of most people. When I am at home and feel like anxiety is getting the best of me, I like to leave the house and go for a car ride or go to the shopping plaza to get my mind off of my problems. My house is very nice and comfortable, so I don't leave the house because I dislike it. I have no kids, so it's not like I am trying to escape something at home. I just find it helps when I get out and about when bad anxiety kicks in. From what I have read, most people like to stay home when anxiety gets bad. Others even cannot leave their house due to fear. Why am I so different, and is this a good or bad thing?
Re: Opposite of AgoraphobiaAs you suggest, it is more likely that a person feels comfortable in their home than the converse. I do know of other people who feel the way that you do. You are not so different, but just a little different. I dont' know whether this is a good or bad thing but suspect it is neither.
