Problem!

Post a new topicby Guest on Thu Dec 11, 2003 5:56 pm

Hello! My name is Kevin, and I have a question for anyone who could help. I'm only 18 and currently enlisted in the Marine Corps. 3 years ago I was with my friend climbing shale cliffs and I fell 75 feet down. The injuries were relatively minor but I did recieve a good blow to the head. There were no signs of concussion afterwords but ever since than I've noticed a change in myself, having no motivation and energy, irritability, sleeplessness, intense muscle tension and trouble resting, wild mood swings as well as other symptoms. It's affected my personal relationships and health. Could the fall have triggered this? If so what can I do to resolve this? Any help will be greatly appreciated, I am desperate to find an answer.

Kevin:

I am not an expert in this area but it is obvious that if you injured in the head,it is possible that the normal functioning of your brain will be disrupted at some level. Our brain is a very complicated machine or Miracle. Personally I would go to adoctor so I will be informed everything I need to know.

It is possible with a fall like that, small miracle you didnt injure your head severely, that a miniscule part of the brain was indeed damaged. However, only a qualified and highly competent neurologist can detect any injury to any part. It would also involve an MRI and possible Cat scan. Just because something wasnt there, thats assuming you had the right tests at the time of injury, doesnt mean it hasnt shown up or manifested itself by now. You mentioned the military, with all the PFT/PRT you have done, something could have furthered injured your head. Or you may want to search inside of yourself and look at the possiblity of fully realizing what a fall like that really meant to you, i.e. it amazes me you are still walking and talking. Good luck to you my friend. God has certainly blessed you.
