Question about medications

Post a new topicby Guest on Thu Mar 28, 2002 6:41 pm

Dr.,

I have been getting daily headaches from my Celexa for a little over a week now, not debilatating but very uncomfortable at times. I have 2 questions:

1. Since all SSRI drugs can cause headaches, and Celexa is supposed to be the least likely to cause them (based on the reported frequency of headaches for each drug), does this indicate that if the headaches don't abate I should not move to another SSRI, as it would likely cause the same problem and should try another class?

2. Assuming I can hang in there for a while to see if they go away, it has been 8 days of headaches now (broken up into numerous episodes a day on and off for an hour or two at a time), how long would a reasonable amount of time be to wait? They are quite uncomfortable but I have always been impatient and don't want to jump to a conclusion. Assuming I can deal with the pain for now, I want to be able to comfortably say to myself that I gave it a fair shot if the headaches don't go away within X amount of days. Thanks as always.

Qustion #1 It is hard to tell. Mostly, headaches will be shared by all class members, but there are exceptions. Sorry to be vague but that is the way it is.

#2 Another week.
