Recovery monitoring

Post a new topicby Guest on Tue Jul 02, 2002 11:24 pm

Dr.,

As part of my therapy, my therapist has me complete the Zung SAS each week. He says although he normally does not like to have patients use these instruments, in my case he thought it might be helpful for me to have an objective way to monitor my own progress, since I am always questioning it.

My progress has been as follows: (we started counting when I started 20mg, and there have been increases along the way)

Start: 52
Week4: 47.5
Week5: 37.5
Week6: 32.5
Week7: 36.5
Week8: 33.75 (1st week at 30mg)
Week9: 30
Week10:35
Week11:31.25 (1st week at 40mg)
Week12:28.75

You have said before to count weeks and months, not days, and that "two steps forward one step back" is common.
I know I shoudn't ask you to interpret results, so maybe you could just tell me if the above fits the general pattern (I'm concerned about this "roller coaster effect" that seems to continue on).

My therapist says my results are not abnormal and sufficient progress (they are in line with what he sees and the occasional Hamilton test he gives me), the roller-coaster pattern generally becomes more subtle over time.

Thanks as always.

While I enjoy talking with you and others at the Mental Health Forum, it is not really appropriate venue to act as an ongoing consultant for someone in treatment.
