SSRI and Anxiety

Post a new topicby Guest on Mon Jun 03, 2002 7:19 pm

I was prescribed Celexa 20 mg (working up to 40) for OCD and depression I have a very sensitive stomch and my doctor said that Celexa is usually the easiest to take. I am also taking .5 MG of Xanax at bedtime for anxiety
I was prescribed this medicine by my internist, not a psychiatrist
Since starting this medicine 4 days ago my anxiety has shot through the roof and my OCD symptoms seem to have worsened. Is this normal?? I don't have a follow up appointment until 2 weeks so I can discuss this with him.

It is not unheard of. Some people report a temporary increase in symptoms for three or four days duration. Usually, these fade of their own accord. If not, call your doctor.
