Hi my name is Kathy and I met my boyfriend almost a year ago and he was raising his son by himself and that was odd to me but anyways the more I was around with his 10yr old son I started to see more and more signs of the autism He was diagnosed when he was like 3 yrs old. We moved in together about 4 months ago and it really has been very trying for me and my children. When he gets (the son) I get hit, scratched, bit and hair pulled. Kathy,
You are certainly in a frusterating situation. Split homes are very confusing and emotionally disruptive for most children and even worse for those on the Autism Spectrum who need consistant routine (sometime ritual) in order to feel secure. Therapy is a wonderful tool for most kids in split homes and maybe you could find a therapist in your area to help with the behavioral issues. Although I do not live in Louisana (I have family that does) I found some resources that may be of help to finding what you need.
