I always compared Mat to my daughter who is now 6 and finally came to realize that each individual is different. Matthew has been going to speech therapy for a few months now. At 18 months he had not said one word that was understood by anyone and has yet to call me Mommy. I have been reading a lot about autistic children and found that he has many autistic characteristics. The speech therapists are saying he has a speech delay, but as a mother I feel there is something more than that.
