my girlfriends son

My friend’s son is getting speech & occupational therapy due to some speech delays that the pediatrician noticed about a yr ago. One of her therapists mentioned autism to her & my girlfriend freaked out. I see every classic symptom in him.

My friend is on a wait list to see a special dr. about his delay, but is there an easy way to let her know that he may have autism? Is this not my place? I try & talk about it but she just changes the subject....Read the full article

I would consider how close you are with this friend. You need to realize that a lot of people would be in denial about it at first. I think the sooner she knows the better, so they can start helping the child with it. You should just be there for your friend when she finds out the truth at the doctors office. No one wants to hear something is wrong with their child, so I think I would let the doctor tell her. I hope everything turns out all right though.
