my daughter has bipolar and on meds. What I am trying to find out is what types of over the counter medicines can she take for headaches, sinus drainage, etc. She is currently on effexor, seroquil, and lithium

I did and they weren't sure so I thought this would be the best place to get the proper info. The last thing I need is to give her the wrong stuff. I do know that any over counter w/ alcohol is a no go. But the pharmecy said they only have stuff for pregnancy and diabetics as far as what they can or can't take

Sorry they couldn't help you. Call her pdoc then. Last thing you need is a med interaction. Good luck.

definitely check with a psychiatrist who is skilled at perscribing medication for people with mental illnesses. DO NOT SPEAK TO A PHARMACIST, THEY DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH BIPOLARS! I was suprised though, usually Lithium or anticonvulsants will do the trick. unless she has other problems. PLease understand that with medication comes side effects. treating a medical side effect with medicine is like giving a fat kid cake as punishment. It might not help and could make problems worse.
