How do you increase your highs?

Post a new topicby haserjn on Tue Jan 08, 2008 9:27 am

I have Bipolar II and since I have been treated with Lithium and Wellbutrin, my highs have dropped significantly. It is difficult to cope with "feeling flat" when I have been hypomanic for so many years. I was wondering what other tactics everyone else uses to get their highs up a little from their current state. I exercise, sleep and eat really well, so I don't know of any other avenues to improve my condition. I have explored introducing Lexapro (in addition to the Wellbutrin), but my doctor is afraid of it de-stabilizing me or I guess not giving me what I am looking for. One thing I do want to make clear is that I have never been manic...

How do you guys find a way to get some more "zing" or "joy of living/pleasure" back into your daily lives?

Hi there. I also have Bipolar II, and have recently started mood stabilizers. I understand what you're talking about with the "feeling flat." I help myself to a state of contentedness through a few hobbies. I don't know if you have any, but it helps me a lot when I do something I enjoy. I play guitar and dance, among other things. Another thing I found helps me a lot is the music I listen to - music affects my moods. If I listen to music that puts me in some sort of a good mood, I feel better. Hope that helps.
