I was on lithium for 2 years and then I got pregnant. I have heard that lithium causes birth defects, so I have been off of it for about 4 months. My doc said that later in pregnancy, the risks are minimal. Where can I find out specific risks for taking lithium while pregnant (I'm 4.5 months along now).
The only information I have found is that "lithium has been related to birth defects" so if you can direct me to where I might find more thorough information, I would appreciate it very much. Thank you.
