Hi my name is Michelle and i am 37. I was 33 when I was diagnosed with stage 3 anal cancer that had spread to my colon and lymph nodes in 2004. I underwent 3 months chemo and 28 radiation treatments before I had surgery in Aug. 2004 and 10 months of chemo after surgery.
I am now going into my fourth year of being cancer free. They tell you that you have to be cancer free for 5 years before you can say that you are cured.
The only two things that helped me get through all of the treatments an...Read the full article

Dear Michelle,
My daughter is 33 years old and was justed diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. We are all in total shock. She has been a healthy young woman with 2 girls, ages 2 and a half and 5 months. She had a baseball size growth removed and it had spread to the outer fat layer. They are saying chemo for 6 months, but telling her it will return and she has about 5 years to live.
Any advice what to do next? her Dr. and hospital are supposed to one of the best, Ohio State. Should we go somewhere else??? We are all praying alot, supporting her...still in disbelief.

HI Michelle,
My name is Gordon and I live in Australia. I have recently (1 month) ago been diagnosed with rectal cancer. Haven't started treatment yet and going through a really mentally messed up time. I read your post and hope your daughter is coping. The only thing that I have found and don't really know if it works is an Oncology Clinic in China. Generally they seem to be getting people that have been told that they a time frame and that our western tratments can't do any more. Mine is able to be operated, but the quality of life afterwards makes me wonder if I can carry on. I am struggling to decide whether to go the usual treatment chemo/RT surgery and have a good chance of getting it permenently, with a servely reduced quality of life, or go this other way that seems to offer containment and longer quality of life but probably won't be curative. The link to have a look at is
China Cancer Hospital [chinacancerhospital@gmail.com]
Please let me know if you have found anything of use as I am open to look at anything at the moment.
My best wishes, this isn't an road
Gordon
