Alienating people is an unfortunate consequence of being depressed, because now is the time when you need the support of people that really cares about you. When you were a child and abused by your mother, that was something that you couldn't control, however, you are in control of your life as it is today, so don't make it hard on yourself. Look at your life as a film, starring yourself and your son. It is your film, you are the director, and you decide what is going to happen in it.

You can't be alone in this, you need someone, and you need to stop isolating yourself, that only enables the depression. It is never to late to change things in our lives that we are unhappy about, and it is worth it because we only have this one life to make things the way we want them to be.
