chronicityDear doc,
I have had one episode of depression which remitted. Could this my second episode turn chronic or because the first one remitted the chances of second one remitting are higher than turning chronic. or their are no chances of turning chronic.
Re: chronicityIn general, every episode increases the chance of another episode. Some psychiatrists recommend the use of either chronic antidepressants or mood stabizers after the third episode to prevent more events. This depends on the nature, severity and length of episodes and remissions.
