Can someone please relay some info about Depression associated with Opioid Withdrawal? I was on a Oxycontin 80mg x6 a day for about 2 years. I recently Detoxed June 25th, and now am experiencing depression along with insomnia? Can someone tell me ususallly how long this will last?
Any info will be helpful.

This varies widely with the individual form almost no depression to six months. People tell me that a month is not uncommon

What stand do the majority of doctors take with using anti-depressants? Here is why I ask. I am having alot of problems falling asleep, so my Doctor gave me some Amitryptline to take at night, now I know this is for depression but may be used for other things. Will this Rx inhibit my bodys natural ability to heal itself? I mean, I never had to take anti-depressants before, should I be now? I am willing to take them, as long as I know it will not be hurting me in the long run, say.. when I want to get off them...?
