Future Lifedear doc,
Ok so I have had two episodes in ten years time. Now from the information I have gathered, I know that I am prone to further episodes (70%chance). These attacks may come with increasing frequency and may be more severe than the previous one. Now I would like to know as to what measures, general and specific if any, I have to take to evade these episodes? How to carry on my future life in this respect?
Re: Future LifeMost psychiatrists would recommend maintanence medication at that stage. If you are not ready for that, the research is less clear. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy may be useful in prophallaxis. The usual advice is try and get enough sleep (an early warning) and avoid being in situations where you are over committed. Some people use light treatments in the winter months. Finally, regular excercise may have a good effect.
