how do you deal with a depressed loved one?

my boyfriend has been diagnosed as clinically depressed. he says he feels numb tends to feel nothing all time. he could do out anything. he says i am one thing he has he's proud of ( relationship). i want to st by him because i am in love him. any suggestions as to to do? how do i act around him. re things i should or should not do? he says he just cant feel. thanks r help.

There is no set of rules that anyone has. It helps to know that he is not himself. It helps to be supportive and give him encouragement. You are his girlfriend and not his therapist or doctor. It helps to be honest, so I don't advise putting on a false front. After all, he is with you because of who yor are. I would encourage him to work with his treatment team. It takes some time for treatment to work and this is hard for anyone. You could read about Depression at this site. Again, remember that your relationship is of two friends and not of a therapist and patient. I guess the best guide is common sense. Good luck to you.
