How to go about it

Post a new topicby Guest on Tue May 07, 2002 10:55 am

Dear sir,
I am going thru a depressive phase. I can’t carry on my responsibilities to the full of my abilities. Now I have a very precarious social situation. I have two daughters and my wife living with my aging parents. I have told them that I am going thru this phase. They are not aware fully of the consequences of this illness and because of that they refuse to believe that anything is wrong with me. I am already falling short of my responsibilities and commitments. Now if I tell them in detail about this illness I fear that I may adversely effect them in any way. On the other hand I can’t push myself into meeting all the demands of my family. What to do about it?

Maybe start slow. Have your wife come to an appointment or read some of the information that is available. Talk to her about how to tell or not tell the others. Gather some support and some time to reflect.
