Severe depression?

Post a new topicby Guest on Tue May 14, 2002 11:35 am

Dear doc,
My score on depression tests comes out to be moderate to severe depression Yet I am going to work and carrying out my responsibilities as best as I can. Does that safely rule out severe depression?

Not really. Some stoic individuals are able to "soldier on " despite depression. Whether you seek treatment or not is somewhat a matter of how you are functioning and somewhat a matter of personal choice.

Heya,

Yes it is possible to function while you have severe depression. Although in my case, I eventually ran out of steam and now I just loaf around the house all day, a pathetic waste of space. I did work since I was 13 to now (29). And I had quite a good happy face, I fooled everyone. But eventually you get sick of having to lie to everyone when they ask you why you're so tired, look sad, etc. Lying is not my forte.
