side effects of wellbutrin

Post a new topicby Guest on Tue Mar 26, 2002 4:19 pm

Hi,
I am a 35 female, with a Dx of depression and PTSD. I have been happily taking effexor 75mg/day and wellbutrin 150mg/day for at least a year now.

Since I have been experiencing increasing problems with PMS moodiness and wellbutrin is sometimes used for this, my psychiatrist increase my dose (gradually) to 400mg/day (and didn't change the effexor).

Not long after the dose reached 400mg I developed pink/red blotches on my trunk, and legs. They are sometimes very itchy but not always. They last about 3 day and then go away only to return again in a couple of days in the exact same locations.

Sorry so long but here are my questions.

1)Does this sounds like a wellburtin side effect to you?

2)Is it true that once you develop a reaction like this to wellburtin you have to go off of it immediately and completely or it may have life threatening effects?

3) If #2 is true, what will it do that could be life threatening? I mean what body systems would it effect that drastically?

Thank you very much Doctor.
