What to do

Post a new topicby Guest on Fri Apr 19, 2002 12:53 pm

Dear doc,
I am a practising physician working in a third world country. I am undergoing moderate depression I am not taking any medication. I am not sure if I should continue my practise. What do you think? What are the laws in USA and other countries.

I would really be hard pressed to give you a definitive answer. What we look at is the ability to function which is more important than the diagnosis. There is certainly no law against practising while depressed. On the other hand, if you are seriously impaired and your clinical effectiveness is impacted, that would be a reason to cut down, be supervised or cease practice.
