Excessive Compulsive House Cleaning

Post a new topicby Guest on Mon Mar 31, 2003 11:51 am

Has anyone ever seen a person that must clear there home everyday? Before her husband’s death, she use to clean every Thursday like clock work. Now it seems she must clean every day. She makes statements that her house is such a mess. She refers to clutter as filth. She is also concerned with “foot oils” This is what she refers to getting on the carpet when people do not wear socks around the house and believes oils from peoples feet transfer to the carpet. She is not the type of person “that I know of” that must take long showers or washes her hands until they are raw, just her home must be perfect. Is there such a thing as “Excessive Compulsive House Cleaning Disorder” ? Any ideas anyone?

Yes there is a cleaning disorder with OCD, in fact, its very common. the symptoms seem to focus around these activites:
- counting
- repeating
- ordering
- checking
- cleaning
she would be in the cleaning category. Of course she might also not have a problem, she could just be anal. check if she has any signs of depression too.
