Help with a loved one

Hi,
My girlfriend and I have a problem and I am hoping someone in this forum may be able to shed some light for us and give us suggestions. My girlfriend's daughter left home approximately 3 years ago. Since then my GF has been obsessive about running her life. She gets so worked up she makes herself sick. She constantly focuses on the most terible things that can happen and always is saying that "I must have been a bad mother or my daughter wouldn't do these things". The funny thing is, her daughter actually is doing well. She was in a bad relationship but now is in a good one. She had augmentation surgury but in her defence she was a 2A. She has gotten herself into debt but then who isn't. Right now what is setting my GF off is her daughter is envolved in a car swap. She is driving and making payments on a friends car while the friend is driving and making payments on hers. She needed a low mpg vehicle and he wants her truck. My GF is fixated on anything that might go wrong with the deal. I told her all I can see is that if one of them gets in an accident the others insuance might go up. So then she is worried about an accident. She acknowledges that her worries are mostly irrational but says she can't stop. Their relationship is good until she starts nagging her and then her daughter won't talk to her for until she drops the subject. I tell her daughter that she has to be selective in what she tells her mother but she is somewhat like me and prefers to be honest and open. I don't know if my GF is obsessive cumpulsive because I really don't notice too much cumpulsive behavior although she is a clean freak. Floor has to be swept twice a day because of the dog, bed made every morn, etc. None of this really bothers me much. If she nags I let her. If she is sad I give her love. And I'm there to let her vent when she needs. We have talked about medication or herbs but I feel she could accomplish more with mental excercises and meditation Has anyone had a similar situation that they have delt with and can enlighten us. I would be appreciative. Thanks
