I believe my twins have ocd and i'm concerned

Post a new topicby Guest on Sun Jun 03, 2001 12:12 pm

I have Identical Twin Boys (Age 2 1/2). Originally only one of m displayed compulsive behavior now or one has joined him. I will call m twin A (being original one) twin B (being one to join twin A). Examples of behaviors twin A ALWAYS s on his Left. He s at table on left, he rides in same car seat, directly behind driver on left side of car he sleeps on left side of bed. He goes ballistic if anyone me (mom) drives car. He goes ballistic if his lid on his cup is not "right" color. He knows is his not his twin's by just looking at it he NEVER gets is his, even if item is absolutely identical to or item. Twin B is now doing same things, I need help think may be problem. If one of m falls down, or one will walk exactly back to same spot fall down too. If carry one of ir "blankets", n must carry or blanket. If one potties on left side of potty, n have to take or ones underwear off again let him potty exactly same as or one did. If one took his socks off i took or one's socks off, i have to put socks back on take m off again. list could go on on i am wondering type of diagnosis it sounds like it is. I don't know if it can be diagnosed as ocd at such a ng age or if it is a "twin" thing. Please write me back let me know. Thank , Twinsmom!

I don't know if you have any other children, but this is very typical of young kids especially that age. One will start doing things just like that and the other will mimic, ESPECIALLY twins. Everything you mentioned I recognize in all kids. I wouldn't be too concerned unless the behavior is time consuming AFTER the twins have grown up more. I wouldn't worry about it.

Your twins are too young to be diagnosed with OCD. It could very well be a twin thing. OCD usually becomes manifest in early adolecense, but can occur earlier. 2 1/2 would be too early to make such a diagnosis.
