Need of Reassurance medically...

Post a new topicby JAE on Sun Nov 04, 2007 6:35 pm

I am constantly thinking that I must have some terrible illness because of symptoms I have.
I have an appointment with my family Dr. at least twice a month(usually the same symptoms
all the time). The symptoms ARE real!
I have had referrals to every specialist there is in our city. I have had biopsies, CTs,X- Rays,
Ultrasounds, blood work, ER visits, you name it and I have had it. They all come up with nothing.
I worry about the symptoms all the time and unless I have an appointment or test coming up I
am totally anxious.
I do have symptoms that make it hard for me to live a normal life.
Today I was listening to a Talk Show on OCD and it sort of really made me think...could this be me?

Has anyone heard of these symptoms with regard to OCD??

HELP! JAE (This seems to have all happened since I retired,my marriage broke up,some deaths in
the imediate family starting about 4 years ago)

Recently I have felt I should make arrangements to go to the Mayo Clinic which would put me into debt big time....

Hello, when my anxiety and OCD started that was my big worry as well not only for myself but my child as well. Every little thing was something if I had a headache it was a tumor, ect. Or if my baby had a cough or cried something was wrong. With mine I got sick while driving and became scared of driving when it was just the flu. This caused my daughters father and I to seperate because he was unable to understand. But there is hope in the end. I went to a Med doctor and a therapist and was on Zoloft which helped greatly. However one point of advice would be that if you start on meds just becasue you feel better don't quit taking your meds. I recently did this and have had a relasp and trying to get control again. I hope this helps you I would talk to your doctor or even go to a Therapist or physciatrist. Not because you are crazy but because this will make your life feel better and you will soon relize what you are missing out on by feeling the way you do. Hope this helped good luck ad God Bless!
