OCD I'm 39 and have OCD most of my life. I grew up in several foster and children's homes. On my mother's side of the family there is severe mental illness. There have been 6 suicides on my mothers side one of which was my sister. I have been diagnosed many times with OCD Anxiety disorder and Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. I currently take Paxil, Zoloft, Klonopin and Resperdol. The medicines help a little but not that much .I see a therapist every week but my problems seem to get worse the older I get. I heard that in the near future, I might possibly be able to get a Cingulotomy.
Is there much hope for me? I love life, but not my problems. It's too much. Thanks. Mike Walchle P.S. The Mental Health Center I go to here is called Community Support. There # is (970)249-0711 and my therapist name is Tom if U have any answers that would really help me. They are good people and I can communicate with them.
Re: OCDThere are new treatments coming along from Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation to Vagal Nerve Stimulation which conceivably might help but are not at the clinical stage for either OCD or depression. Some research indicates that Anafranil is the most potent agent with OCD. There is no research to justify mixing Paxil and Zoloft. Cingulotomy has helped many people, but it is (obviously) a last resort. You might try suggestions from specific OCD sites. Finally, it is not the purpose of the forum to get involved in treatment planning.
