Sanity Check

Post a new topicby sdali4 on Wed Sep 24, 2008 3:13 pm

Hey all... Just need a little life check here to make sure I'm grounded on OCD. To give you an idea of what you're dealing with I'm a long time bi-polar w/ ADHD. I'm on a ton of meds and to date systems are go. I have dealt with some manic and depressive episodes in between so it hasn't been a perfect science which is expected. My problem stems about a year ago. I've been married for 6 years with my wife with a 11+ year relationship total. My marriage unfortunetly took a bad turn and I went on a -I think- manic phase where I had several affairs. 3 of which were physical. Although my wife and I are still married (why I don't know) we're still working on restoring our relationship. Here's the sanity check that i need.. I went to a physiologist the other day and he was quizing me on what had happened and he came to the conclusion that OCD might be a factor. Now I understand that mania may have an effect but I'm not sure where OCD comes into play. I've read what I could on OCD and I can't relate this need for having other relationships. Maybe I'm missing something. Can someone explain how affairs relate to OCD -if it even does. Just skeptical about the diagnosis. Thanks Chris

dear chris,
in regards to your question...i'm not sure exactly how this all ties in with ocd(being that i have it myself) where did he exactly get the conclusion from? did you say something specific to make him think this? or was it a possiability diagnosis?
