Afraid of big groups

Post a new topicby futurepsycologist on Wed Oct 10, 2007 11:42 pm

I've heard of a fear of being alone and such, but i have a fear of large crowds. I don't think it's as serious as many people have other phobias, but it bothers me. Is it normal? When the crowd gets more than about 5 people, sometimes i can handle 6 or 7, i tend to walk away. I don't tell anyone, and sometimes they are all my friends around. This fear/feeling really bothers me sometimes, seeing as how my school is very large and in the morning big crowds appear. But that doesn't bother me. It only bothers me when they are around talking to or looking at me. It bothers my friends who hang out in big crowds, but they have learned to accept it. However i was wondering if there was anything i could do to help...tone it down maybe? without going to a psychiatrist or something of course.
