There are two behavioral techniques. One is exposure with response prevention. In essence, you go with a friend and just hang out there until the anxiety starts to fade. You sort of ignore your rapid heart beat and sweats because you know they won't kill you. After a while the anxiety goes down. You can read more about "exposure with response prevention." You could also go to a behavioral therapist for coaching in the technique.

There are commercial companies that have a "virtual reality" machine where you put on a screen and headphones and pay a virtual visit to an airport until you can process it intellectually. When you are no longer anxious in virtual realities, you go for real.

Finally, if you need to go medications such as benzodiazepines, SSRIs and beta blockers have been known to help.
