Fear of Heights

Post a new topicby Guest on Mon May 20, 2002 1:25 pm

For as long as I can remember I had a fear of heights, it made it difficult to go over bridges, stand on balconies, climb ladders, etc.
I've been placed on Vioxx for headaches and have noticed my fear of heights has gone away. However, I do notice that when I am in a high place looking over a long expanse with bright light, instead of fear, I have a perception problem, feeling like I am out there, instead of where I am standing. I know that sunlight and staring into the distance, like when driving, will give me head pain, or ear ringing, and can cause some perception problems. So, I tried changing my visual field and looking on things sideways instead of straight on. This seems to change my perception of where I am, so that I no longer feel I am out there, instead of where I really am. Which makes me feel much better. Have you ever heard a headache medication doing this?

I have not heard of this before, but thanks for telling me. This would be an unanticipated benefit of the medication if it were to work for others as well.
