Loving someone with PTSD

Post a new topicby laralie on Fri Nov 07, 2008 11:25 am

I am looking for a support network of those dealing with PTSD in their families. Loving someone with PTSD can be a selfless commitment that sometimes seems futile. They become so numb and detached at times you wonder if they love you anymore or if they even care to love you. I am reading all I can to learn about this disorder to better understand what he is facing as well as myself. He has not been diagnosed very long, but after reading more about this, I see he has been suffering for a long time. We never knew what was causing the sleepless nights or the nightmares, the moodiness, the displaced anger, detachment. It is good to know finally, but now what? He is being treated with medication and seeing a counselor through the VA. I am just reading and searching for what to do, what to think, what to feel. It's a start....
