PTSD - flashbacks

Post a new topicby Guest on Sun Jun 17, 2001 9:11 pm

I would like to know if others who suffer from flashbacks find that they are unable to speak for several minutes following a flashback.

I suffer from PTSD and recurrent flashbacks stemming from chronic sexual abuse as a young adult.

Some of my patients voice a similar complaint. Research wise, not all that much is known about the mechanism of flashbacks.

I suffer from PTSD and I also was sexually abused as a child . I also was raped and these things are what have caused me to suffer . I have flashbacks am not left with the inability to speak I just seem to relieve the pain and suffering all over again. I usually have them in the night while I am trying to go to sleep or if I should get in to a situation that resembles the events leading up to the abuse. I hope this helps. They say start a journal and keep track to see what may be the cause and what helps you get through them.
