ptsd

I have just had an encounter with a gentleman that is 62 and explained he has this disorder but was under counseling and therapy. His was caused from the Viet Nam war. He literally swept me off my feet and I fell madly in love with and wanted to help him with his problem. I moved to Montana with him after a brief courtship and then everything slowly changed. One morning he got up and was acting like I had done something horrible, told me we could not make it and drove me home in a 24 hour driving trip straight through to Lake Havasu City. Left me at the door , never said good-by and was gone. This needless to say has left me in a state of wonderment. Is this part of this PTSD as it sounds by polar to me. I am trying so hard to understand this mess so I can go on with my life.

Can anyone help me to understand what goes on in PTSD victims, so I can quit blaming myself.

It does not sound like PTSD since he had the 24 hour drive to get over it. You can read about PTSD here on this website http://www.mentalhealthchannel.net/ptsd/index.shtml , good luck

Ms. lady, your first problem is that you are dealing with the rescue syndrome. The gentleman is not the problem at this time. He began to inform you of his life problems and you took them on as if you could fix them, not realizing that you had a problem yourself. Deal with your problem first and realize that you can't help anyone unless you can help yourself.

Respectfully,
Tonya
